 • Series: The Book of Acts

This powerful exploration of Acts 8 takes us on a journey with Philip as he encounters an Ethiopian eunuch on a desert road, revealing how God orchestrates divine appointments in seemingly unlikely places. We're challenged to consider what it means to be attentive to the Holy Spirit's promptings, even when they lead us away from visible success into apparent obscurity. The Ethiopian eunuch represents all of us who have felt excluded, too broken, or too far gone to approach God. Yet through Isaiah 53, we discover that Jesus became the ultimate outsider, humiliated and cut off, so that outsiders could become insiders. The eunuch's question resonates through the centuries: 'What prevents me from being baptized?' Under the old covenant, everything would have prevented him. But in Christ, nothing can hinder us from coming to God. This isn't just a conversion story; it's a fulfillment story showing how the gospel breaks through every barrier—geographical, ethnic, social, and religious—to reach the ends of the earth. We're invited to examine our own lives: Are we listening for God's voice in the everyday moments? Are we willing to look foolish for Jesus? Do we fear God more than we fear others' opinions? The Ethiopian went on his way rejoicing, not because his circumstances changed, but because he had Jesus. And Jesus is enough.
